~cs lewis on hearts~ [nerd post]

Wednesday, July 18, 2007
just taking this hide/show script for a test drive. many people use it in their sidebars, to reduce clutter. susan, aka cruel virgin, uses it in her sidebar ... and so does this powderpuff geek blogger.i wanted to see if it would work the same way in a post. so let's see, then ... if you wanna know what cs lewis wrote about hearts, click on the +/- ... here goes, babe! +/-

"To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable."

I have the "show more" tags on my site too but mine's a wordpress plugin.

I wanted to thank you for your perspective on X.Dell's blog, I also wanted to say feel free to email me at any time if you have any thoughts that may help or at least give us some perspective on this rather horrific situation. Its hell to fight with them and more hell to be just turned down flat for things tht I know would help. Its a matter for them of keeping me in limbo because if they "fix" me - thats less office visits and therefore less money from medicare. Sheer hell for someone in my position but a wonderful golf holiday for the men in white.

Again, thank you. I appreciate all of the feedback that I recieve.

Red, hidy do, puddin'. I liked yore CSL quote...but tell me how does I import that thingy--the orang plus hat lets ys hide a long other text so it can be seen only if the viewer wants to see it--would be SO great fer givin' sources , quotes, etc.

How is ya'?

That is one of my all time favorite quotes...I posted it earlier this year I think :)

jeanniegrrl ... thinking of u and your battle. i will email you soon - i am designing a website for a school project in 3 days ... once the deadline passes i will have the time to catch up on emails.

annie - i will make a short post on how i did this. cool, huh? its essentially the way you described in your post (about show/hide links in your sidebar) except that between the div tags you just put text ...

ab - i will write up a step-by-step explanation and post it here, ok? its really not that hard ... and, yeah, i thought it could be useful for posts when you don't want all that detail showing, but you still want to include it ... give me a day or two and i will get it up here. i am working on my web site design project ... its fun but the deadline means i sort of have to be obsessive about it, almost at the expense of everything else.

mayden ~ sorry to hear about cadence. try as we might, its hard to wrap one's head around stuff like that ... csl - yes, i have for many years been touched by the tragedy of his sad life ... but i am only now discovering his true brilliance. his writing speaks to me in a special way. its a comfort ... enjoy your time away. :)

Mantissa, a most ingenious contraption. The Lewis thingy was also good to read.

no i dont think so. love can win most of the place which otherwise cant be done.

Hmmm. CS Lewis gives us two choices as to what to do with our hearts. Does anyone else have more options?

eat them. that's another option.
