Mute Monday ~ Patriotism

Sunday, July 06, 2008

patriotism means love of one's country.
we like to think of it as positive force,
but at many times in history,
the pictures have portrayed its dark side.
every human has love for one's nation.
its how we show it that really matters.

The two seem to be the same.

....and not unlike too many days of everybody's life, sometimes, eh?

Patriotism is frequently served up as reasons to allow atrocities...great MM!

There are certainly some scary pics there. It's astonishing how very cruel we humans can be to one another.

Happy Mute Monday!

Interesting observation. Can't let jingoism replace patriotism. That picture of the muzzie with his son was proven to be a fake though. Staged and taken 3 days after the battle ended.

Happy Mute Monday!

this comment ain't at all related to the post ... but i insert it here for some comedic relief ~ frizzy went to wreck beach yesterday evening. frizzy chose the option of remaining clothed, and that made it an interesting experience. however, those 335 steps one must climb to get to the main road just about killed frizzy, who felt like she needed a lung transplant even before the climb. frizzy's legs feel like spaghetti today. and she may very well still be high (from yesterday!)

Very interesting take on the theme. True, we can go too far in the name of patriotism. Wonderful selections.

Happy MM!
